Massac County Patriots (Metropolis, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Benton Rangers (Benton, IL), 7-2 in a league challenge.

The Patriots now own a 11-5 record. They take the field next when they host Harrisburg for a Southern Illinois River-to-River - Ohio challenge on Tuesday, April 26. Massac County will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 8-1 league win over Herrin (Herrin, IL). The Bulldogs record now stands at 17-6.

With the loss, Benton falls to 5-11 on the campaign. The Rangers travel to Frankfort (West Frankfort, IL) to battle the Redbirds in a Southern Illinois River-to-River - Ohio challenge on Tuesday, April 26. The Redbirds enter the challenge with a record of 8-9. Frankfort lost 5-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Hamilton County (McLeansboro, IL)
