Hoggard Vikings (Wilmington, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC), 8-1 in a league challenge.

The Vikings now own a 10-4 record. They take the field next when they host Scotland for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 25. Hoggard will face a Fighting Scots squad coming off a 3-1 non-league loss to Crest (Shelby, NC). The Fighting Scots record now stands at 17-2.

With the loss, Laney falls to 10-7 on the campaign. The Buccaneers host West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC) to face the Trojans in a Mideastern 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, April 26. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 4-13. West Brunswick lost 3-2 in their recent non-league challenge against North Brunswick (Leland, NC)
