Staunton River Golden Eagles (Moneta, VA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting William Byrd Terriers (Vinton, VA), 10-7 in a league challenge.

The Golden Eagles now sport a 13-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Lord Botetourt for a Blue Ridge challenge on Tuesday, April 25. Staunton River will face a Cavaliers squad coming off a 8-7 non-league win over Abingdon (Abingdon, VA). The Cavaliers record now stands at 5-7.

With the loss, William Byrd falls to 3-12 on the campaign. The Terriers travel to Fleming (Roanoke, VA) to face the Colonels in a Blue Ridge challenge on Tuesday, April 25. The Colonels enter the challenge with a record of 0-11. Fleming lost 17-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Glass (Lynchburg, VA)
