Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks (Newburgh, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Pine Bush Bushmen (Pine Bush, NY), 14-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Goldbacks now own a 1-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Pine Bush for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 3.

With the loss, Pine Bush falls to 6-1 on the campaign. The Bushmen travel to New Paltz (New Paltz, NY) to face the Huguenots in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 23. The Huguenots enter the challenge with a record of 1-3. New Paltz lost 25-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Saugerties (Saugerties, NY)
