The crowd at Monday's non-league match between the Merrill Bluejays (Merrill, WI) and the host Tomahawk Hatchets (Tomahawk, WI), saw Merrill's softball squad nip Tomahawk by a count of 6-5.

The Bluejays now sport a 4-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Marshfield for a Wisconsin Valley match on Thursday, April 25. Merrill will face a Tigers squad coming off a 1-0 league loss to D.C. Everest (Schofield, WI). The Tigers record now stands at 5-7.

With the loss, Tomahawk falls to 4-6 on the campaign. The Hatchets host Rhinelander (Rhinelander, WI) to face the Hodags in a Great Northern match on Tuesday, April 23. The Hodags enter the match with a record of 1-7. Rhinelander lost 23-7 in their recent non-league match against Wausau East (Wausau, WI)
