Michigan High School Baseball - Mattawan sneaks past Portage Central

April 22, 2025: Mattawan, MI 49071

The crowd at Tuesday's league battle between the Mattawan Wildcats (Mattawan, MI) and the visiting Portage Central Mustangs (Portage, MI), saw Mattawan's baseball team get by Portage Central by a tally of 5-4.

The Wildcats (6-1) will now prepare for their battle against Lakeshore (Stevensville, MI). The Lancers enter the Southwestern Michigan - West battle with a 6-0 record. In their last battle, Lakeshore held off Norrix (Kalamazoo, MI), 9-0, in a non-league battle.

Next, the Mustangs face the Kalamazoo Central Maroon Giants (Kalamazoo, MI) in a Southwestern Michigan - East battle, on Thursday, April 24. Portage Central will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record. The Maroon Giants enter the battle with a 6-6 record after their 13-2 non-league win over Otsego (Otsego, MI).
