Columbus Cardinals (Columbus, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Weimar Wildcats (Weimar, TX), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 24-5 record. They take the field next when they host Marion for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 28. Columbus will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 22-0 league win over Randolph (Universal City, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 11-15.

With the loss, Weimar falls to 27-6 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Falls City (Falls City, TX) to battle the Beavers in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 27. The Beavers enter the challenge with a record of 5-8. Falls City won 13-3 in their recent league challenge against La Pryor (La Pryor, TX)
