Spectators at Monday's non-league match between the Craig County Rockets (New Castle, VA) and the host Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), witnessed Craig County's softball squad prevail over Giles by a final score of 22-6.

The Rockets (4-4) will now prepare for their battle against Eastern Montgomery (Elliston, VA). The Mustangs go into the Pioneer battle with a 6-7 record. In their last battle, Eastern Montgomery was routed by George Wythe (Wytheville, VA), 9-7, in a non-league battle.

The Spartans now possess a 0-10 record. They play next when they host Fort Chiswell for a Mountain Empire battle on Tuesday, April 25. Giles will meet a Pioneers squad coming off a 7-3 non-league win over Graham (Bluefield, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 9-3.
