Leon Cougars (Jewett, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Slocum Mustangs (Elkhart, TX), 3-1 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 11-19 record. They take the field next when they travel to Somerville for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 28. Leon will face a Yeguas squad coming off a 20-18 league win over Normangee (Normangee, TX). The Yeguas record now stands at 11-11.

With the loss, Slocum falls to 3-8 on the campaign. The Mustangs host Grace Community (Tyler, TX) to face the Cougars in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 28. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 15-10. Grace Community lost 5-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Neches (Neches, TX)
