Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers (Yanceyville, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Clover Garden School Grizzlies (Burlington, NC), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Buccaneers now own a 10-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Seaforth for a Mid-Carolina 1A/2A challenge on Friday, April 26. Bartlett Yancey will battle a Hawks squad coming off a 9-0 league loss to Jordan-Matthews (Siler City, NC). The Hawks record now stands at 6-12.

With the loss, Clover Garden School falls to 9-6 on the campaign. The Grizzlies host Chatham Charter (Siler City, NC) to battle the Knights in a Central Tar Heel 1A challenge on Friday, April 26. The Knights enter the challenge with a record of 12-3. Chatham Charter won 7-0 in their recent league challenge against River Mill (Graham, NC)
