The crowd at Wednesday's non-league match between the Chatham Central Bears (Bear Creek, NC) and the visiting Western Harnett Eagles (Lillington, NC), saw Chatham Central's softball squad nip Western Harnett by a count of 6-1.

The Bears now sport a 15-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to North Moore for a Mid-Carolina 1A/2A match on Thursday, April 25. Chatham Central will face a Mustangs squad coming off a 10-2 non-league loss to Chatham Charter (Siler City, NC). The Mustangs record now stands at 10-7.

With the loss, Western Harnett falls to 13-6 on the campaign. The Eagles host E.E. Smith (Fayetteville, NC) to face the Golden Bulls in a All American 3A/4A match on Friday, April 26. The Golden Bulls enter the match with a record of 3-10. E.E. Smith lost 21-1 in their recent league match against Western Harnett (Lillington, NC)
