Spruce Mountain Phoenix (Jay, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Madison Bulldogs (Madison, ME), 15-11 in a league challenge.

The Phoenix now own a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mountain Valley for a Class C South challenge on Friday, April 26. Spruce Mountain will face a Falcons squad coming off a 6-5 league loss to Mount Abram (Strong, ME). The Falcons record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Madison falls to 1-2 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Telstar (Bethel, ME) to face the Rebels in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 29. The Rebels enter the challenge with a record of 1-4. Telstar lost 14-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Monmouth Academy (Monmouth, ME)
