Tuscola Mountaineers (Waynesville, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Cherokee Braves (Cherokee, NC), 13-10 in a non-league challenge.

The Mountaineers now own a 11-5 record. They take the field next when they host East Henderson for a Mountain Seven 3A challenge on Tuesday, April 26. Tuscola will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 12-0 league loss to Smoky Mountain (Sylva, NC). The Eagles record now stands at 5-10.

With the loss, Cherokee falls to 6-10 on the campaign. The Braves travel to Hayesville (Hayesville, NC) to battle the Yellowjackets in a Smoky Mountain 1A challenge on Tuesday, April 26. The Yellowjackets enter the challenge with a record of 4-5. Hayesville won 5-2 in their recent league challenge against Hiwassee Dam (Murphy, NC)
