In Monday's non-league contest, the Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC) softball team held off the host Landrum Cardinals (Landrum, SC), by a margin of 6-5.
With the triumph, Polk County moves its record to 8-8 on the year. The Wolverines host East Rutherford (Forest City, NC) to play the Cavaliers in a Mountain Foothills Seven 2A contest on Tuesday, April 26. The Cavaliers come into the contest with a record of 15-3. East Rutherford won 2-1 in their recent non-league contest against Wayne Christian (Goldsboro, NC)
In their next game, the Cardinals play the Union County Yellowjackets (Union, SC) in a non-league contest, on Friday, April 29. Landrum will attempt to move on its 5-8 season record. The Yellowjackets come into the contest with a 7-5 record after their 10-1 non-league win over James F. Byrnes (Duncan, SC).
