Alleghany Mountaineers (Covington, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the host James River Knights (Buchanan, VA), 11-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Mountaineers now own a 9-1 record. They take the field next when they host Radford for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 28. Alleghany will battle a Bobcats squad coming off a 24-14 non-league loss to Glenvar (Salem, VA). The Bobcats record now stands at 0-7.

With the loss, James River falls to 5-6 on the campaign. The Knights host Waynesboro (Waynesboro, VA) to battle the Little Giants in a non-league challenge on Monday, May 1. The Little Giants enter the challenge with a record of 1-7. Waynesboro lost 19-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Wilson Memorial (Fishersville, VA)
