Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Pioneers now own a 5-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Auburn for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 28. Fort Chiswell will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 12-2 non-league win over Grayson County (Independence, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 5-3.

With the loss, Giles falls to 3-1 on the campaign. The Spartans host Radford (Radford, VA) to battle the Bobcats in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 27. The Bobcats enter the challenge with a record of 0-7. Radford lost 24-14 in their recent non-league challenge against Glenvar (Salem, VA)
