Salem Wildcats (Salem, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Columbia Eagles (Columbia, IL), 4-1 in a league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 17-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Freeburg for a Cahokia - Mississippi challenge on Thursday, April 27. Salem will battle a Midgets squad coming off a 10-0 non-league win over New Athens (New Athens, IL). The Midgets record now stands at 22-1.

With the loss, Columbia falls to 10-8 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Edwardsville (Edwardsville, IL) to battle the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 26. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 16-3. Edwardsville won 13-0 in their recent league challenge against Collinsville (Collinsville, IL)
