Mt. Vernon Mountaineers (Mt. Vernon, MO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Pierce City Eagles (Pierce City, MO), 7-0 in a non-league challenge.
The Mountaineers now own a 22-6 record. They take the field next when they host Clever for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 26.
With the loss, Pierce City falls to 0-3 on the campaign. The Eagles host Southwest (Washburn, MO) to battle the Trojans in a Southwest Central challenge on Thursday, April 28. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 0-2.
