Lake Region Lakers (Naples, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Poland Knights (Poland, ME), 7-1 in a league challenge.

The Lakers now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Gray-New Gloucester for a Class B South challenge on Friday, April 28. Lake Region will battle a Patriots squad coming off a 11-7 league win over Greely (Cumberland Center, ME). The Patriots record now stands at 1-3.

With the loss, Poland falls to 2-1 on the campaign. The Knights travel to Mt. Blue (Farmington, ME) to battle the Cougars in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 28. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 1-3. Mt. Blue won 13-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Erskine Academy (South China, ME)
