Vernon Hills Cougars (Vernon Hills, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Niles North Vikings (Skokie, IL), 16-1 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 6-13 record. They take the field next when they host Taft for a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 27. Vernon Hills will face a Eagles squad coming off a 17-2 league win over Chicago Washington (Chicago, IL). The Eagles record now stands at 14-8.

With the loss, Niles North falls to 4-8 on the campaign. The Vikings travel to Deerfield (Deerfield, IL) to face the Warriors in a Central Suburban - North challenge on Thursday, April 27. The Warriors enter the challenge with a record of 3-4. Deerfield lost 4-0 in their recent league challenge against Maine East (Park Ridge, IL)
