In Saturday's non-league match, the host Belleville East Lancers softball team scored a tight 9-4 win over the Jersey Panthers.

The Lancers (15-5) will now prepare for their match against Alton (Alton, IL). The Redbirds come into the Southwestern match with a 2-13 record. In their last match, Alton was routed by Civic Memorial (Bethalto, IL), 16-4, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Panthers battle the Waterloo Bulldogs (Waterloo, IL) in a Mississippi Valley match, on Monday, April 28. Jersey will attempt to better on its 5-8 season record. The Bulldogs come into the match with a 11-2 record after their 10-2 league win over Civic Memorial (Bethalto, IL).
