Homer Mariners (Homer, AK) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Soldotna Stars (Soldotna, AK), 15-8 in a league challenge.

The Mariners now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Palmer for a Northern Lights challenge on Thursday, April 29.

With the loss, Soldotna falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Stars host Kenai Central (Kenai, AK) to battle the Kardinals in a Northern Lights challenge on Tuesday, May 4. The Kardinals enter the challenge with a record of 0-0.
