Staunton River Golden Eagles (Moneta, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Lord Botetourt Cavaliers (Daleville, VA), 3-2 in a league challenge.

The Golden Eagles now own a 14-0 record. They take the field next when they host Franklin County for a Blue Ridge challenge on Friday, April 29. Staunton River will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 9-1 league loss to Northside (Roanoke, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 4-7.

With the loss, Lord Botetourt falls to 9-2 on the campaign. The Cavaliers travel to Byrd (Vinton, VA) to battle the Terriers in a Blue Ridge challenge on Friday, April 29. The Terriers enter the challenge with a record of 2-6. Byrd lost 13-6 in their recent non-league challenge against Cave Spring (Roanoke, VA)
