Monroeville Eagles (Monroeville, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Western Reserve Roughriders (Collins, OH), 8-5 in a league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 15-5 record. They take the field next when they host Plymouth for a Firelands challenge on Friday, April 29. Monroeville will face a Big Red squad coming off a 2-0 league loss to South Central (Greenwich, OH). The Big Red record now stands at 3-5.

With the loss, Western Reserve falls to 3-10 on the campaign. The Roughriders host Crestview (Ashland, OH) to face the Cougars in a Firelands challenge on Thursday, April 28. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 9-4. Crestview won 10-2 in their recent league challenge against New London (New London, OH)
