The South Columbus Stallions softball team (Tabor City, NC), was routed 11-3 in Thursday's league test with the host East Columbus Gators (Lake Waccamaw, NC)
Coming up next, the Gators encounter the West Columbus Vikings (Cerro Gordo, NC) in a Waccamaw 1A/2A test, on Tuesday, May 2. East Columbus will attempt to improve on its 19-2 season record. The Vikings come into the test with a 0-16 record after their 12-6 league loss to Pender (Burgaw, NC).
The Stallions (12-7) will now prepare for their test against Whiteville (Whiteville, NC). The Wolfpack come into the Waccamaw 1A/2A test with a 8-12 record. In their last test, Whiteville was routed by Heide Trask (Rocky Point, NC), 10-6, in a league test.
Game Summary
An early lead helped East Columbus Gators Varsity defeat South Columbus 11-3 on Friday. East Columbus Gators Varsity scored on a home run by Bailey Padgett in the first inning and a home run by Chynna Patrick in the second inning.
East Columbus Gators Varsity pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second Patrick hit a solo homer.
East Columbus Gators Varsity scored four runs in the third inning. East Columbus Gators Varsity put the pressure on, lead by singles by Patrick and Karli Godwin and a groundout by Kaley Mitchell.
Ava Jacobs took the win for East Columbus Gators Varsity. Jacobs surrendered three runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out one.
O Watts took the loss for South Columbus. Watts went two and a third innings, allowing eight runs on five hits.
East Columbus Gators Varsity hit three home runs on the day. Godwin had a long ball in the fifth inning. Padgett had a homer in the first inning. Patrick had a dinger in the second inning.
