Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs (Rochester, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Penfield Patriots (Penfield, NY), 5-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Monarchs now own a 4-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Brighton for a Class A challenge on Friday, April 28. Our Lady of Mercy will battle a Bruins squad coming off a 19-2 league win over Spencerport (Spencerport, NY). The Bruins record now stands at 5-4.

With the loss, Penfield falls to 2-9 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Victor (Victor, NY) to battle the Blue Devils in a Class AA challenge on Monday, May 1. The Blue Devils enter the challenge with a record of 7-2. Victor won 21-8 in their recent non-league challenge against Spencerport (Spencerport, NY)
