Oxford Prep Griffins (Oxford, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Falls Lake Firebirds (Creedmoor, NC), 5-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Griffins now own a 9-4 record. They take the field next when they host Roxboro Community for a Triangle North 1A challenge on Monday, April 29. Oxford Prep will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 14-2 league win over Vance Charter (Henderson, NC). The Bulldogs record now stands at 12-4.

With the loss, Falls Lake falls to 10-8 on the campaign. The Firebirds host Cedar Ridge (Hillsborough, NC) to battle the Fighting Red Wolves in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 29. The Fighting Red Wolves enter the challenge with a record of 10-7. Cedar Ridge won 13-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Northwood (Pittsboro, NC)
