Spectators at Thursday's non-league battle between the West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC) and the host Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC), saw West Wilkes's baseball squad knock off Watauga by a count of 9-4.
The Pioneers now possess a 14-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Ashe County for a Northwestern 3A/4A battle on Friday, April 29. Watauga will play a Huskies squad coming off a 7-5 league loss to South Caldwell (Hudson, NC). The Huskies record now stands at 3-17.
