The crowd at Thursday's league match between the Deer Lakes Lancers (Russellton, PA) and the host Valley Vikings (New Kensington, PA), saw Deer Lakes's softball squad nip Valley by a count of 6-3.

The Lancers now sport a 8-3 record. They take the field next when they host North Catholic for a WPIAL 3A 1 match on Monday, May 2.

With the loss, Valley falls to 3-2 on the campaign. The Vikings host Kiski Area (Vandergrift, PA) to face the Cavaliers in a non-league match on Friday, April 29. The Cavaliers enter the match with a record of 3-1. Kiski Area won 6-1 in their recent league match against Plum (Pittsburgh, PA)
