Cape Elizabeth Capers (Cape Elizabeth, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Freeport Falcons (Freeport, ME), 9-8 in a league challenge.

The Capers now own a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Greely for a Class B South challenge on Thursday, May 4.

With the loss, Freeport falls to 1-4 on the campaign. The Falcons host York (York, ME) to battle the Wildcats in a Class B South challenge on Monday, May 1. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 3-0. York won 8-4 in their recent league challenge against Fryeburg (Fryeburg, ME)
