The crowd at Monday's non-league bout between the New Bern Bears (New Bern, NC) and the visiting Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC), observed New Bern's softball team prevail over Croatan by a tally of 10-0.

The Bears (17-4) will now prepare for their bout against Jacksonville (Jacksonville, NC). The Cardinals go into the Big East 3A/4A bout with a 6-12 record. In their last bout, Jacksonville was routed by South Central (Winterville, NC), 12-2, in a league bout.

In their next game, the Cougars clash with the Swansboro Pirates (Swansboro, NC) in a Coastal 3A bout, on Tuesday, April 29. Croatan will attempt to advance on its 8-8 season record. The Pirates go into the bout with a 10-10 record after their 9-7 league loss to White Oak (Jacksonville, NC).
