The crowd at Monday's non-league bout between the Sumter Gamecocks (Sumter, SC) and the visiting Latta Vikings (Latta, SC), observed Sumter's softball team get by Latta by a tally of 1-0.

The Gamecocks (15-6) will now prepare for their bout against Ridge View (Columbia, SC). The Blazers go into the AAAAA Region 5 bout with a 1-11 record. In their last bout, Ridge View was nipped by Blythewood (Blythewood, SC), 7-0, in a league bout.

In their next game, the Vikings clash with the Carvers Bay Bears (Hemingway, SC) in a A Region 6 bout, on Tuesday, April 29. Latta will attempt to advance on its 13-3 season record. The Bears go into the bout with a 5-12 record after their 1-0 non-league loss to Waccamaw (Pawley's Island, SC).
