The Carlsbad Lancers (Carlsbad, CA) softball routed the host Torrey Pines Falcons (San Diego, CA), 9-3 in Friday's league bout.
The Lancers (7-11) will now prepare for their bout against Rancho Buena Vista (Vista, CA). The Longhorns go into the Coastal North County bout with a 12-8 record.

TORREY PINES JUMPED OUT TO A 2-0 LEAD IN THE 2ND INNING ON A CLUTCH 2 STRIKE SUICIDE SQUEEZE BUNT BY SOPHOMORE AVA FAGIN AND AN RBI SINGLE BY EMMA FITZGERALD. CARLSBAD SCORED 4 IN THE 3RD AND 1 IN THE 5TH TO TAKE A 5-2 LEAD. TORREY PINES SCORED A RUN IN THE 6TH ON A RBI DOUBLE BY FRESHMEN KELLY WHELIHAN TO CUT THE SCORE TO 5-3 AND HAD RUNNERS ON 1ST AND 3RD WITH 1 OUT BY COULD NOT GET CLOSER. CARLSBAD ADDED 4 RUNS IN THE 7TH INNING FOR THE FINAL 9-3 SCORE. TORREY PINES DROPS TO 17-6-1 OVERALL AND 5-1 IN LEAGUE PLAY WHILE CARLSBAD IMPROVES TO 7-11 OVERALL AND 3-2 IN THE LEAGUE.
