The Lake Country Lutheran Lightning baseball team scored 17 runs and limited the host Luther Prep Phoenix to 3 in the Lightning non-league victory on Saturday.
The Lightning (9-3) will now prepare for their match against Living Word Lutheran (Jackson, WI). The Timberwolves go into the Midwest Classic match with a 8-3 record. In their last match, Living Word Lutheran gained a win over Kenosha Christian Life (Kenosha, WI), 18-4, in a league match.
The Phoenix (3-8) will now prepare for their match against Lake Mills (Lake Mills, WI). The L-Cats go into the Capitol - North match with a 8-7 record. In their last match, Lake Mills gained a win over Belleville (Belleville, WI), 12-0, in a non-league match.
Game Summary
In game two of the non-conference doubleheader, the Lightning bats stayed hot knocking out 11 hits and 17 runs. Jackson Menzel was 1 for 2 with a Grand Slam, Jack Poellot was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs, and Grant Manthei was 1 for 1 with 2 RBIs. Gavin Baranyk pitched the first 4 innings for the win, striking out two batters. LCL improves to 9-3 overall.
