Otay Ranch Mustangs (Chula Vista, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots (San Diego, CA), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now sport a 12-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mater Dei Catholic for a Metro Mesa challenge on Wednesday, May 1. Otay Ranch will face a Crusaders squad coming off a 5-0 league win over Eastlake (Chula Vista, CA). The Crusaders record now stands at 21-3.

With the loss, Academy of Our Lady of Peace falls to 9-7 on the campaign. The Pilots travel to Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, CA) to face the Dons in a City Western challenge on Wednesday, May 1. The Dons enter the challenge with a record of 16-5. Cathedral Catholic won 3-0 in their recent league challenge against Clairemont (San Diego, CA)
