Monticello Mustangs (Charlottesville, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Waynesboro Little Giants (Waynesboro, VA), 5-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 8-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Louisa County for a Jefferson challenge on Tuesday, April 30. Monticello will battle a Lions squad coming off a 8-4 league win over Western Albemarle (Crozet, VA). The Lions record now stands at 11-3.

With the loss, Waynesboro falls to 4-6 on the campaign. The Little giants host Wilson Memorial (Fishersville, VA) to face the Green Hornets in a non-league match on Friday, May 3. The Green Hornets go into the match with a record of 4-9. Wilson Memorial won 11-5 in their recent league match against Riverheads (Staunton, VA)
