In Tuesday's non-league challenge, the host Benton HomeSchool Bucks volleyball team scored a 3-0 triumph over the Northridge Raiders.
The Bucks (4-1) will now prepare for their challenge against South Bend Saint Joseph (South Bend, IN). The Huskies come into the non-league challenge with a 7-11 record.
Next, the Raiders play the Mishawaka Marian Knights (Mishawaka, IN) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, May 1. Northridge will attempt to upgrade on its 5-7 season record. The Knights come into the challenge with a 0-5 record after their 3-0 league loss to South Bend Saint Joseph (South Bend, IN).
Match Summary
The Northridge Raiders boys varsity volleyball team put up a determined fight against the Benton Bucks, but ultimately came up short in a competitive three-set match, falling 16-25, 21-25, and 22-25.
Jayse Runyan led the offensive effort with 8 kills and also made a strong impact at the net with 7 blocks. Owen Holmes added 7 kills of his own and was a force from the service line, delivering 4 aces.
Defensively, the Raiders were anchored by Jysen Besser, who put up 10 blocks. Chris Janatello contributed 6 blocks, helping to slow down Benton’s attack. In the back row, Bryant Hernandez led the team with 8 digs, while setter Rhyan Otto kept the offense moving with 7 assists.
