Springfield Cougars (Springfield, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Penncrest Lions (Media, PA), 1-0 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Strath Haven for a Central challenge on Tuesday, April 11.

With the loss, Penncrest falls to 1-1 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Sun Valley (Aston, PA) to face the Vanguards in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 5. The Vanguards enter the challenge with a record of 0-3. Sun Valley lost 10-9 in their recent league challenge against East (West Chester, PA)
