Game Summary
CARDINALS COLLAPSE UNDER THE LIGHTS
In what turned out to be a good night for a game, La Salle Academy let a 2-0 lead walk away, literally, and lost 2-13 against Christ the King on Randall’s Island. Cardinals’ pitching surrendered 14 walks as their record after the first week of CHSAA play stands even at 1-1.
La Salle was up 2-0 going into the top of the fifth inning, without the benefit of a base hit thanks to savvy baserunning by Allen Gutierrez (1 for 4, R, 4 SB) and Anthony Gonzalez (1 for 1, R, 2BB, SB). But after running the bases LSA starter, Gonzalez (4 IP, 4H,3R, 3ER, 4BB, 9K), tired in the top of the fifth and the walk parade started for the Royals as they mounted the comeback with 13 unanswered runs.
On Deck: La Salle plays their first road game of the year as they travel to Brooklyn to play Nazareth on Tuesday, April 8th. First pitch is set for 4:30pm at Kings County Ameri
