Alleghany Cougars (Covington, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Radford Bobcats (Radford, VA), 8-7 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 13-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Patrick County for a Three Rivers challenge on Friday, May 3. Alleghany will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 11-2 league win over Floyd County (Floyd, VA). The Cougars record now stands at 11-4.

With the loss, Radford falls to 5-11 on the campaign. The Bobcats host James River (Buchanan, VA) to battle the Knights in a Three Rivers challenge on Thursday, May 2. The Knights enter the challenge with a record of 4-8. James River lost 10-4 in their recent league challenge against Glenvar (Salem, VA)
