James River Knights (Buchanan, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Carroll County Cavaliers (Hillsville, VA), 11-2 in a league challenge.

The Knights now own a 4-7 record. They take the field next when they host Glenvar for a Three Rivers challenge on Wednesday, May 1. James River will battle a Highlanders squad coming off a 4-1 non-league loss to Hidden Valley (Roanoke, VA). The Highlanders record now stands at 7-7.

With the loss, Carroll County falls to 13-2 on the campaign. The Cavaliers host Floyd County (Floyd, VA) to battle the Buffaloes in a Three Rivers challenge on Friday, May 3. The Buffaloes enter the challenge with a record of 7-7. Floyd County lost 11-2 in their recent league challenge against Patrick County (Stuart, VA)
