Hayward Hurricanes (Hayward, WI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Cumberland Beavers (Cumberland, WI), 12-7 in a league challenge.

The Hurricanes now own a 12-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Ashland for a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 2. Hayward will face a Oredockers squad coming off a 9-1 non-league loss to Barron (Barron, WI). The Oredockers record now stands at 1-11.

With the loss, Cumberland falls to 6-12 on the campaign. The Beavers travel to Chetek-Weyerhaeuser (Chetek, WI) to face the Bulldogs in a Heart O'North challenge on Thursday, May 2. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 3-9. Chetek-Weyerhaeuser lost 3-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Cameron (Cameron, WI)
