Hempfield Area Spartans (Greensburg, PA) backers left the game pleased Wednesday as they saw their softball squad thwart the visiting Pine-Richland Rams (Gibsonia, PA), 10-0 in a league game.

With the triumph, Hempfield Area upgrades its record to 20-1 on the year. The Spartans travel to Norwin (North Huntingdon, PA) to play the Knights in a WPIAL 6A 1 bout on Friday, May 2. The Knights go into the bout with a record of 3-9.

In their next game, the Rams clash with the Canon-McMillan Big Macs (Canonsburg, PA) in a WPIAL 6A 1 bout, on Friday, May 2. Pine-Richland will attempt to advance on its 8-5 season record. The Big Macs go into the bout with a 9-9 record after their 5-0 league loss to Seneca Valley (Harmony, PA).
