Mason Comets (Mason, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Lakota West Firebirds (West Chester, OH), 10-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Comets now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Colerain for a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 7. Mason will face a Cardinals squad coming off a 21-9 non-league win over Princeton (Cincinnati, OH). The Cardinals record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Lakota West falls to 1-1 on the campaign. The Firebirds host Middletown (Middletown, OH) to face the Middies in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 7. The Middies enter the challenge with a record of 0-0.
