Southwestern Randolph Cougars (Asheboro, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Asheboro Blue Comets (Asheboro, NC), 7-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 9-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Trinity for a Piedmont Athletic 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, April 5. Southwestern Randolph will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 16-0 non-league loss to Page (Greensboro, NC). The Bulldogs record now stands at 1-11.

With the loss, Asheboro falls to 3-9 on the campaign. The Blue comets travel to Montgomery Central (Troy, NC) to battle the Timberwolves in a Mid-Piedmont 3A challenge on Tuesday, April 5. The Timberwolves enter the challenge with a record of 3-9. Montgomery Central lost 4-1 in their recent non-league challenge against North Stanly (New London, NC)
