Somerville Highlanders (Somerville, MA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Chelsea Red Devils (Chelsea, MA), 9-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Highlanders now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Malden for a Northeast challenge on Wednesday, April 6. Somerville will battle a Golden Tornados squad coming off a 7-0 non-league loss to Everett (Everett, MA). The Golden Tornados record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Chelsea falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Red devils host New Mission (Boston, MA) to battle the Titans in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 8. The Titans enter the challenge with a record of 0-0.
