The crowd at Monday's non-league match between the Meridian Wildcats (Meridian, MS) and the host Newton Tigers (Newton, MS), saw Meridian's softball squad achieve victory over Newton by a count of 17-0.

The Wildcats now sport a 7-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Petal for a 6A Region 5 match on Thursday, April 7. Meridian will face a Panthers squad coming off a 7-2 league loss to Brandon (Brandon, MS). The Panthers record now stands at 13-2.

With the loss, Newton falls to 0-5 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Meridian (Meridian, MS) to face the Wildcats in a non-league match on Monday, April 11. The Wildcats enter the match with a record of 7-9.
