Winthrop Vikings (Winthrop, MA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Salem Academy Charter Navigator (Salem, MA), 13-11 in a non-league challenge.

The Vikings now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Saugus for a Northeast contest on Tuesday, April 5.

In their next game, the Navigator play the Pioneer Charter School of Science Panthers (Everett, MA) in a Massachusetts Charter Div. 1 contest, on Thursday, April 7. Salem Academy Charter will attempt to move on its 0-1 season record.
