West Carteret Patriots (Morehead City, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC), 4-3 in a league challenge.

The Patriots now sport a 5-7 record. They take the field next when they host East Carteret for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 5. West Carteret will face a Mariners squad coming off a 11-9 league loss to Jones (Trenton, NC). The Mariners record now stands at 7-6.

With the loss, Croatan falls to 2-5 on the campaign. The Cougars host West Carteret (Morehead City, NC) to face the Patriots in a Coastal 3A challenge on Thursday, April 6. The Patriots enter the challenge with a record of 6-7. West Carteret won 6-1 in their recent non-league challenge against East Carteret (Beaufort, NC)
