La Mirada Matadores (La Mirada, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Downey Vikings (Downey, CA), 5-1 in a league challenge.

The Matadores now sport a 13-6 record. They take the field next when they host Gahr for a San Gabriel Valley challenge on Wednesday, April 5. La Mirada will face a Gladiators squad coming off a 4-3 non-league loss to Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, CA). The Gladiators record now stands at 9-7.

With the loss, Downey falls to 8-10 on the campaign. The Vikings host Mayfair (Lakewood, CA) to face the Monsoons in a Suburban challenge on Monday, April 17. The Monsoons enter the challenge with a record of 10-7. Mayfair won 2-1 in their recent league challenge against Gahr (Cerritos, CA)
